Behind the Name
The property draws its name from the storied Judge & Jury rock formations. These landmarks are steeped in gold-rush heritage and define the landscape’s unique identity. Since the 1880s, the rocks have inspired local stories and shaped the character of the region. Their name perfectly reflects their appearance; a commanding schist outcrop stands as the ‘Judge,’ while a semicircle rock formation forms the seated ‘Jury.’
